We look forward to welcoming you as one of our most esteemed guests.
WALKING SAFARIS
One of the distinguishing features of Zaina Lodge’s location in Mole National Park is that we are permitted to conduct professionally guided walking safaris and specialized Eco-Learning Safaris on a daily basis.
Guests may either walk from Zaina Lodge or walk in combination with a mobile safari. Guests on a walking safari may be able to approach elephants or other wildlife within an acceptable and safe distance, entirely at the field guides discretion.
Our Field Guides are highly knowledgeable and passionate about their careers and Mole’s flora and fauna. They openly interpret and share what they know about the 350 bird species, 93 mammal species (mostly nocturnal species); 33 reptile species and innumerable plants and invertebrates that make up the Mole National Parks ecosystem.
GAME DRIVES
Zaina Lodge has four customized Toyota Safari vehicles, each of which can carry up to nine guests including a guide and a driver. The vehicles have typical safari styled comfort with unobstructed window views of the terrain traversed.
Mobile or driving safaris explore diverse habitats throughout the south eastern portions of Mole National Park, inclusive of open hard pans covered with grass, waterholes, forest and broad-leafed savanna woodland with regular ‘stops’ at man-made ‘hides’ where guests may observe wildlife from outside the vehicles.
COMMUNITY TOURS
Zaina Lodge offers tours to the nearby communities.
There are two authentic eco-villages (Larabanga and Mognori) which are located at the edge of Mole National Park.
Larabanga is home to the famous mosque which is considered to be the oldest mosque in West Africa.
ECO-LEARNING SAFARIS
Our Eco-Learning Safaris are generally full day safaris, some of which include:
– A Day in the Life of an African Elephant
– A Day in the Life of a Game Ranger
– Edu-Eco Wildlife Ambassador Programs (Pachyderms; Primates; Predators)
– Edu-Eco Guest Citizen Science Programs (Nestwatch, Camtrap, Birding, Ethnobotany, Vulpro)
CANOE TOURS
Enjoy scenic and peaceful canoe safaris on the Mole River where you will see a unique array of wildlife such as monkeys, birds, and a variety of aquatic life, all whilst floating away on the river.
Zaina is a beautiful, quiet, relaxing place to be based to see incredible wildlife & learn about the flora & fauna.
We had 2 safaris, 3.30pm & 6.30am the next morning. Both very different & with extremely knowledgeable guides. We saw many animals in the afternoon including 2 very large elephants who crossed the track very close to us. Fewer in the morning but still interesting and we saw a completely different habitat. The baboons were great and had babies, we saw many birds & antelope. Staying in a ‘tent’ overlooking 2 waterholes we spent a lot of time sitting on our balcony watching elephants bathing. We saw 13 different ones altogether. The staff are so attentive, nothing is too much trouble, the accommodation is fabulous & the restaurant is beautiful overlooking the bush & the infinity pool.
Our only tiny complaint was lack of choice of menu & we found a large breakfast followed by two 3-course meals each day was too much.
We would very highly recommend Zaina Lodge. It is more expensive by Ghana standards but reasonable by GB prices and very much worth it.
